I generally use between 3-5 size, and I use the pencil tool in SAI, not the brush. I do use pressure sensitivity, but I draw pretty hard so it isn't too sensitive. I will go back and erase the edges of lines to taper them sometimes.
Oh, thank you so much! He looks absolutely GORGEOUS!
I love his happy expression and all of the luscious details in his mane and feathers. And I swear, you have some of the smoothest lineart that I've seen. It seriously looks like a screenshot from an animated movie. And I can't get over that incredible golden lighting. It's just the perfect amount of contrast between the highlights and shadows to enhance his face and expression. It feels like he's ready to lead you into some place magical.
That background is beautiful, too. I love the beams of light and the little high-lighted dust motes. Plus, the texture of the trees and the grasses are very well done. It's just enough to complement the character and the mood, but not so much that it overpowers the entire image. I love it so much!
Thank you again! This is really wonderful, and it brightened my day to see.
lol. <3 I know, I kind of spent a bit too much detail on the trees ... kind of contrasts with the simplicity of the cartoon character, but the trees were a lot of fun to do once I actually figured out how to do them (at about Try 4). xD
