Alright well, I haven't really done an official critique before, it's usually just me faning but I'll try on this one....
Alright let's start with the background. I don't know what you're talking about, the background it beautiful. The lighting on the rocks and the sun in the back is wonderful. The hyena, wonderful shading on it, I love shading on eyes.
The originality gets four stars, and the only reason it's not five is because ocean scenes are quite popular, but you did it justice with the little out-cove you created.
Technique, perfect. You're art is amazing, you draw hyenas and lions alike perfectly, no mistakes.
So overall this is a VERY nice piece and.... keep it up.
I guess that's because in TLK, they were supposed to be villains. The problem is, why do villains always have to look unattractive anyway? Why can't they just make the villains look as "pretty" as the good guys? In real life, the bad guys aren't necessarily any "uglier" than the good guys. I think they should reflect that in kids' movies too.
I completely agree. xD Most Disney villains fall between the extremes = either really ugly or (supposedly) really good-looking, like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast or Hans from Frozen. It would be nice to see an average-looking guy be the villain for once, or an average-looking person be the hero (again, heroes go between the extremes as well, which is annoying).
What a cute character, I love her design! I love her expression, and face, she looks so awesome in your style! Your background is amazing, as always, you have such a unique style with backgrounds, you can always tell it's your art.
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH why you always GIVE ME SO MUCH INSPIRATION. GOSH. I HAVE TO STUDY NGHHHHHHHHHHH I really love the scenery, the background gives an atmosphere so emotive to the picture that makes me want to hug the little one ;^; And I specially like the sand (I have to say you have improved a lot with this ) AND THE SHADOW OF THE HYENA I really really like it <3
Not right now, sorry. ;; I need to catch up with my to-do list, and then take a little bit of time off for personal art. I've done an awfully lot of trades and commissions lately! Not that I'm complaining, I love doing it, but my poor characters are getting a bit neglected, and there's a lot of canon TLK art that's poking around in my brain right now.
This piece is wonderful Kohu, Your character are mixing in well with your background more then ever! I can image a simple animation of the hyena hair blowing softly in the wind while the ocean washes in an out peacefully. <3
Yeah I did never go around to thank you so much for doing it! It really turned out wonderful I love the feeling and the concept of the background. I hate when those happen. :/ only happen to me once thank god.
